SWPA Area Agency on Aging

The mission of Southwestern Pennsylvania Area Agency on Aging, Inc. is to promote the well-being of older adults through a planned, coordinated and collaborative program of health and social services.

The Area Agency on Aging subcontracts with 34 local agencies to provide a comprehensive service delivery system for older adults. Wherever feasible, consumers are given the opportunity to choose among a variety of qualified providers. While many services are provided through the development of subcontracts, others are provided directly by the Area Agency on Aging.

Medicare’s Annual Open Enrollment for 2019 Coverage

Oct 15 to Dec 7, 2018

Medicare’s annual Open Enrollment Period (AOEP) is a time of the year when you may join, change or drop your Medicare Advantage health plan and/or your Medicare prescription drug plan for the next year.  The AOEP is from October 15 through December 7, 2018, for changes to take effect on January 1, 2019. 
There is no fee for the Southwestern PA Area Agency on Aging APPRISE program to assist with comparisons of insurance options. The purpose of Enrollment Centers is to help Medicare beneficiaries make health insurance choices that best suit their needs. 
The APPRISE program has scheduled the following Medicare Enrollment Centers. To make an appointment, contact the Enrollment Center most convenient for you.  Applicants must bring pertinent insurance cards, including the Medicare (red, white and blue) card, the zip code of their pharmacy, and a list of their prescriptions, including the dosage and frequency taken.
